The department, which is responsible for the Academy’s teaching of “Political Science” for undergraduate students and postgraduates, is directly under the jurisdiction of the Party Committee. The Department offers more than 10 selective courses: Basics of Marxist Principles, Moral Characters & Fundamentals of Law, A Survey of Mao Zedong Thought & China-Style Socialism, An Outline of Chinese Contemporary History, Situation and Policy, Career Guidance for Graduates, Health & Mental Health, and Humanities & Competence-Oriented Education.

The Department consists of two teaching-and-research sections: ‘Marxism and Leninism’ and ‘Moral Education’. Altogether there are 12 full-time Teachers, including 2 PhD holders, 7 MA holders, 1 Professor, 4 Associate Professor, 7 Lecturers, and 2 Visiting Professors.

In the past five years, the department has made remarkable academic achievements. It has won 2 research projects from the Ministry of Education, 19 research projects from the Province and the Academy. The Teachers have published 77 academic papers, and compiled 4 course books and monographs.

Beginning with the actual conditions of the Academy, the Department took great pains to explore the methodology of teaching of works and cases of Fine Arts, and to innovate the modes of teaching of ideological and political courses. Now it has formed a unique teaching system featuring ideological and political education, humanities, and art resources.The Basics of Marxist PrinciplesandCultivation of Moral Characters & Fundamentals of Lawhave been evaluated as the Academy’s model courses.
